I read with some humor David Caliguiri’s Opinion 250 response to Chad Herman’s comments in the Post Gazette from last week. (For those who don’t know, the PG is running its Opinion 250 to encourage ideas about Pittsburgh’s future at its 250th anniversary…)
Caliguiri’s intends to build on Herman’s comments — which meander around the [...]

Goodbye Dollar!

The problems with the Fed damaging the dollar and the economy should not be taken lightly, but sometimes the best way to wake folks out of their slumber is with a little humor!

“Paul thinks everyone is born an instinctive libertarian, “wanting to be let alone.” Unfortunately, “the school system beats it out of you.” Paul voted both for the ban on partial-birth abortion (a fetus is alive, leave it alone) and against the ban on same-sex marriage (none of the federal government’s business). He refused to [...]

You gotta love government meddlers when it comes to development. Their supporters always crow, crow, crow about what they build — even when it fails, as have many of their initiatives in the downtown Pittsburgh area  .  We are always reminded that nothing would have happened if the meddlers didn’t do their deals.  Then we [...]

Lindsay Lohan released a formal statement that extended her condolences to the family of recently deceased director, Robert Altman. Either she was drunk when writing it, or she is borderline illiterate. I know.. I know.. it’s the thought that counts. But this epitomizes the indifference youth has to basic language skills, as [...]

Ahh… Government Run Gambling It is so nice to see how delusional PA is with their gambling laws. Political demands to placate this demographic or that — or simply to create more cache for the important gang of politicians in charge — have created an environment that is nothing short of moronic. Hence [...]

The port authority voted 5-2 to give the nod to the Tunnel to Nowhere, a $435 million dollar project that will link the north side of the city with the downtown subway rail system.
$435 million is not going to be the last figure. It’s reported that the project — a Federal, State and local project [...]

Bob O’Conner, meanwhile, hopes to fight better over the remaining population by subsidizing new [...]

The legislature seems to be balking on finishing the Mon Valley Expressway.  Costs and other priorities are catching up with all the fancy plans made during the 1990s.
Here at the TRP&S, we are no fans of excessive highway building, especially in the face of rising gas prices — a phenomenon that is hardly going to [...]
