Well… I’m by no means early on this subject, but by all means, the more outrage net surfers can find about this subject, the better.

The PA Supreme Court ruled yesterday to reinstate the sketchy middle of the night pay raise passed by the state legislature last summer, and then rescinded in November as they realized their political lives were on the line for doing so.

From a Post Gazette atricle on the subject (please click and look at their ads - — they need the revenue!):

“This was the opportunity for the court to clean up the way the Legislature passes bills in the middle of the night behind everybody’s back in the night,” he said. “The shoddy way of passing legislation at the last minute was upheld. [The justices] said that process is OK.”

Notes the Trib Review:

“Lowering judges’ pay is barred by the constitution in most situations, however. So Castille said repealing the pay raise law was “plainly unconstitutional to the extent that it diminished judicial compensation.”

A sixth justice, Thomas Saylor, filed a separate opinion saying he would not have restored the judges’ pay. Saylor is the only justice to face voters for retention next year.”

Isn’t it nice that judges can’t get a pay cut — just like the rest of Americans. As if. You have to love government.
