The Incredible Shrinking City

Looks like Pittsburgh dropped another 1.3% in population, from 320,000 to 316,000… Allegheny County dropped as well. This means Pittsburgh is in 10th place among those losing population the fastest, behind such destinations like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Boston, Detroit and Norfolk, VA.

Bob O’Conner, meanwhile, hopes to fight better over the remaining population by subsidizing new dwellings in the downtown area, which will serve to cannibalize those citizens remaining, as well as steal potential renters and buyers away from the existing taxpaying economy. This would serve to give yet another incentive for people to move to a more rational city.

Message to Big Bobby O: Its the lousy business environment, stupid!
