Taxpayer Katrina Aid Used for Porn
February 14, 2006 |
So much has been said about the lack of help for Katrina Victims, and who should be blamed in the government for not doing enough. To suggest that the system was broken long before the big FEMA flub is not so politically correct. But you can’t deny that most of those left to suffer the fate were chronic dependents of the state with little capability of extracting themselves from the situation unlike the majority of New Orleans citizens. And when digging beneath the surface, you find tons of political cronyism from the Governor’s office down to the lying Parish Presidents who turned on the tears with the flick of the political expediency switch for NBC’s Tim Russert on National T.V.
Among the many things that irked me through this whole disaster were the images of many of those in need of help not kindly asking for support out of desperate gratitude, but rather they were demanding immediate assistance with flashes of anger, as if someone owed them help — as if it is an entitlement. This entitlement attitude has been reinforced in the many hearings and interview since. I should think that folks with their hand out for free help ought would be a little more respectful of the fact that in 99% of the rest of the world, their situation would not only be worse, and also thankful that they billions of dollars being used to bail their dependent rear ends out of a bad situation is coming out of other people’s pockets one way or the other. But then again, this is the culture of gratitude the collectivists have nurtured with fifty years of entitlement based demagoguery and even more years of few strings attached government entitlement programs like welfare.
At any rate, I was not the least surprised to see that FEMA is beginning to find that the recipients of much of the bail-your-sorry-ass-out aid that is being distributed is being used by these supposedly desperate for survival to purchase items most any private charity would balk out. Items released in a recent FEMA report include $1300 pistols, $1200 trips to Nude Dance Clubs, to $1100 engagement rings and $400 for massages and $150 for Adult Erotica Products.
With this kind of stuff constantly going on over and again, you’d think people would begin to lose faith in deferring $Trillions into the government to solve problems. But, no: like
