These Guys Deserve the eachother
October 10, 2005 |
The Teamsters are upset about wages and the new deal that requires healthcare contributions from the workers for those employed by The Pittsburgh Parking Authority. So, they take their pickets on the road to visit Merrill Stablie who is one of local parking magnates, at his fancy neighborhood in Shady Side. They even leave flyers on the cars at his church.
Where to begin…
- The unions are half to blame for the socialized bloat forcing healthcare costs to rise as more and more socialism is built into the system.
- Stablile, and his parking authority quasi monopoly deserve more than just being picketed. Same for Onorato, Murphy and every other politician in town. Certain families affiliated with these authorities get rich while others are barred from entering the market.
- Union’s gains come at the expense of the economy, forcing everyone to pay more for the services provided. Sure, Union workers gain, but directly from non union pockets.
- Entry level wages for entry level work. Unfortunately some tasks are don’t provide a unique value, and therefore cannot command as much a wage.
- If you have not noticed, machines are now collecting money at downtown lots… Its cheaper to buy a machine than to hire a human with all the ancillary costs and liability — and strikes. The higher the minimum and union wage is driven up, the sooner the next automated machine to replace these jobs will arrive.
- the same holds true for how quickly illiterate farmers in mainland china who know only farming will be hired. Never mind the inconvenience and political risk — its less than hiriing you!
- Note to self: Don’t pick a career out of something a 16 year old with no experience at anything OR a machine can do.
