Ahhh… The Cable Monopoly

August 10, 2005 |

The Wall Street Journal has a good piece in the Op-Ed section on IPTV (Internet Protocol TV), which would essentially put the consumer in the driver’s seat regarding content. Instead of being forced to buy large packages of channels you don’t want, IPTV would simply allow you to pick ala carte — not too differently from how you already cruise the web.

But just wait a minute! Not so fast, buddy! You see, the cable monopolies have a lot of special deals where they grease the palms of local and national politicians so that nobody else can offer their product….

Wave your flag, folks… The “land of the free” is calling your name!
