Kelo Calamity on Eminent Domain?
August 4, 2005 |
Few in America liked the outcome of the Kelo vs New London CT ruling, where private property was taken by the City and handed over to private developers for the purpose of economic improvement and increased tax revenue. In Pittsburgh we have a front row seat to this sort of nonsense.
On the surface there exists no doubt of that this is an injustice. However, the solution to the problem is not for the Supreme Court to stick its nose into every local case. That is the job of the locals, and was the intent of the Constitution. Lew Rockwell covers the subject in a nice piece at his website.
