Pay Raise Reprise
August 1, 2005 |
This is good news. Someone is suing the PA Assembly for the BS rule loophole they used to raise their own wage in defiance of the PA Constitution.
While I’m glad they are getting lots of flack for stiffing the taxpayer once again, the only problem with law suits of this sort is that taxpayers are forced to foot the bill whatever the outcome. I would instead suggest a law that makes politicians personally liable for such garbage instead of dumping the costs — the blame for which fall squarely at their feet — on the rest of us. Certainly, if all citizens could dump the cost of their irresponsibility onto everyone else, you’d find a lot more irresponsibility… not at all unlike how welfare tends to subsidize some of the very poverty causing actions it purports to end. As it stands, few politicians care about the cost the taxpayers assume in such lawsuits. Just the same, even fewer care that the bottomless pockets of the State uses its vast resources in its own lawsuits against those it targets, who will always be at a disadvantage in terms of money and time.
