Looks like the SEA wants to pay down some old debt with new debt in order to keep the Convention Center operating. Part of the problem is that they were expecting to balance this year’s budget with the mythical slot revenue. Hmmm..

Tis amazing what passes for accounting in government these days. Any local business doing as much would be hounded out by politicians as Enron type thieves. But with voters around here it seems the old saying “Hey! I’m from the government. Trust me!”, still seems to carry wayyyyy too much weight.

Here’s another saying worth learning: The dog bites you once, shame on the dog. The dog bites you twice, shame on you.

I forget who said it (maybe it was George Bernard Shaw), but now I’m reminded of yet another fine quote which I will paraphrase: “Hegel was right when he said the only thing we can learn from history is that man learns nothing from history.”
