Goodbye Kaufman’s
July 29, 2005 |
With so much competition out there forcing consolidations in the retail industry, one wonders why Mayor Murphy seems to still believe “if you build it, they will come”. Kaufman’s will be closing many stores in the region as the Macy’s brand takes over.
Clock ticking is the Trib’s view on the subject.
“”Customers have told us they want the fashion and affordable luxury they find in Macy’s stores,” Federated CEO Terry Lundgren said in a statement.”
Mayor Murphy, take note: Smart business means listening to your customers and clients. “Customers” are speaking loud and clear about Pittsburgh. So are taxpayers and businesses: The environment stinks in the city because of the city government. Get rid of the rot, and stop with the “lipstick on a pig” development initiatives.
What should we expect from a career politician?
The Post Gazette Pays its last respects to Kaufman’s as well.
