Make it More Expensive 101

June 25, 2005 |

If you do a cost per student break down in the Pittsburgh City Schools, you’ll find something in order of $15,000 per student. That’s a heavy amount, especially when you do the math on that for 30 kids per classroom: That’s over $400,000 per classroom. Teachers don’t make nearly that much, even if their Unions have the wage scale a mess. So where is all that money going? To the mandated backroom deals like this:

    -School board delays labor vote

    -Minority contractors decry proposal

How much do you want to bet it gets passed?
